Simple
Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser
Gentle, fragrance-free glycerin-and-mineral-oil lotion at a bargain price — the niacinamide and B5 on the front are there in small amounts.
Is Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser good for sensitive skin?
Yes, as a plain daily lotion: glycerin and mineral oil do the moisturising, with no fragrance, colour or essential oils. Do not buy it for the headline actives, though: niacinamide is stated at 1%, and the others at 1% or less.

Our Take
Underneath the niacinamide and pro-vitamin B5 on the front, this is a plain, well-made lotion: glycerin and mineral oil do almost all the work, with dimethicone for slip and no fragrance, colour or essential oils — which is exactly why it suits reactive skin. The headline actives are far more modest than the packaging suggests: niacinamide is stated at 1%, below the 2–5% used in the studies usually cited for it, and everything listed after it — panthenol, vitamin E, borage seed oil, urea, bisabolol — is present at 1% or less. We'd take issue with Simple's own website calling it an “oil free” moisturiser when mineral oil is the third ingredient, and with the listing's “no allergens” line when bisabolol, though gentle for most, is a documented if uncommon allergen. Two versions are also in circulation — the newer pack adds ginger root extract — so the bottle you receive may not match Amazon's photos exactly. At an MRP of ₹499 for 125 ml, about ₹4 a ml, it is among the best-value face moisturisers we have reviewed and a sensible fragrance-free daily lotion, as long as you buy it for what it is rather than for the actives on the label.
What we like
- ✓ Fragrance-free, colour-free and essential-oil-free
- ✓ Glycerin and mineral oil — a gentle, proven moisturising base
- ✓ Light, fast-absorbing lotion texture
- ✓ About ₹4 a ml at MRP
Worth knowing
- → Niacinamide at 1%, the other headline actives lower still
- → Brand website calls it “oil free” despite mineral oil third on the list
- → “No allergens” claim overlooks bisabolol
- → Two formulas in circulation, so your pack may differ from the photos
Best for
Normal, combination or sensitive skin that wants a light, fragrance-free daily moisturiser
Avoid if
You avoid mineral oil, have a chamomile or bisabolol allergy, or want treatment-level actives
What buyers report
Recent Amazon reviews mostly describe a very light lotion that absorbs quickly without a greasy film, with buyers who have oily or sensitive skin the most pleased. Complaints are one-offs: no oil control, a bottle that is hard to squeeze, and watery eyes when used near them. Several say it does not irritate, which fits its fragrance-free formula.
